Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions, Answered

Most families come in with the same questions about cost, timing, and what treatment is like. Here are the answers we share most often. If yours is not covered, call either office or come in for a free consultation, and we will be glad to help.

Getting Started and Early Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first visit around age 7. By then, enough permanent teeth have come in for Dr. Hart and Dr. Resch to spot issues like crowding or a narrow bite. Most kids will not need treatment yet. An early visit simply lets us plan ahead if it is ever needed.

Cost, Insurance, and Financing

The cost of orthodontic treatment varies because every smile is different. Early orthodontic treatment (Phase 1) is often different in cost than comprehensive treatment for teens or adults, and more complex cases may require additional treatment. Most treatments at our practice range from $3,000 to $7,500. During your complimentary consultation, we'll review your personalized treatment plan, provide a clear estimate, and discuss flexible payment options that work for your family.

Braces and Clear Aligners

Braces and clear aligners are both effective ways to straighten teeth, but each has its advantages. Braces are fixed to your teeth and provide our orthodontists with exceptional control, making them an excellent choice for many complex orthodontic concerns. Clear aligners are nearly invisible, removable for eating and brushing, and offer added convenience for many patients. During your consultation, our orthodontists will explain the benefits of each option and recommend the treatment that's best suited to your smile and goals.

At the Practice

Yes. We treat kids, teens, and adults, often from the same family and sometimes in the same visit, so everyone can be cared for in one place.

Orthodontic Emergencies

A loose or broken bracket is usually not urgent. If it is still on the wire, leave it in place and cover any sharp spot with orthodontic wax. Then call your office and we will schedule a time to fix it.
